Portable Appliance Testing

Health and safety in the workplace is of continued concern for all employers. Keeping your employees safe is a high priority but unfortunately is often neglected because of time constraints on managers. Portable appliances will deteriorate through continued use and therefore need to be maintained periodically.

We can arrange to carry out for the combined inspection and testing of electrical equipment (probably better known as PAT testing) is in accordance with the Institution of Engineering & Technology’s code of practise for in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment (4th edition 2012), which is relevant to the Health & Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 and the Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER). This includes class I, II and III equipment such as portable equipment, movable equipment, hand-held equipment, stationary equipment, equipment that is plugged in or connected by means of a flexible cord/cable to a fused/unfused connection unit or spur, built-in appliances, IT equipment, extension leads, detachable cord sets (IEC lead) and multiway adaptors. All engineers completing this work hold C&G 2377 - "Certificate of Competence for the Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment”.

Utilising fully computerised, calibrated test equipment, we complete the work in accordance with the Institute of Electrical Engineers code of practice for in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment.

Work procedures are thorough and small repairs are undertaken to keep appliances in service, where possible. All appliances are tagged or labelled to identify each appliance and its location at the time.

A report will be emailed to you in Microsoft Excel format detailing the item number, description, location, fuse rating and class. We no longer print reports in line with our environmental policy.

Whilst PAT testing we also carry out a microwave emission test in compliance with IEC335-25 Regulation.
